Writer: Ali HonaramizAli Honaramiz

The DIGI YOUTH 2 Joint Staff Training event in Izmir, organized by Yaşar University, marked a significant milestone in youth empowerment and collaboration. As part of the program, participants had the opportunity to visit Genç İzmir Bornova Youth Center, a well-established institution affiliated with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. This center, with nearly 30,000 registered members, serves as a hub for young people by offering a wide range of free opportunities that contribute to their personal and professional growth.

During the visit, participants were warmly welcomed by the center’s representatives, who shared valuable insights into their pioneering youth work practices. The center provides a diverse range of activities, including educational workshops, social engagement programs, skill-building initiatives, and recreational activities, all designed to support the holistic development of young individuals.

One of the highlights of the visit was the exchange of best practices in youth work. The discussions underscored the importance of community-driven initiatives, inclusivity, and innovative approaches in addressing the needs of young people. The interaction allowed for meaningful discussions on the impact of structured youth programs and how they can be adapted to different cultural and social contexts across Europe.

The DIGI YOUTH 2 project aims to enhance digital skills, social engagement, and active citizenship among young people. Through joint staff training events like this, the project fosters collaboration among stakeholders committed to youth development. The visit to Genç İzmir Bornova Youth Center not only provided inspiration but also served as an excellent example of how local governments can play a crucial role in empowering the youth.
